Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on 30th August 2026.

We at Marimar Rooms are working to make our site www.marimar.co.uk  accessible to people with disabilities.

What we've done

We have taken the following steps to make our website more accessible:

  • Used clear, plain English throughout

  • Ensured text and background colours provide sufficient contrast

  • Made sure all images include descriptive alternative text

  • Structured pages with clear headings to aid navigation

  • Ensured the website can be navigated using a keyboard alone

  • Made the website compatible with screen readers and assistive technologies

  • Ensured text can be resized without loss of content or functionality

Accessibility Adjustments On This Site

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG [2.0 / 2.1 / 2.2 - select relevant option] guidelines, and have made the site accessible to the level of AA. This site's contents have been adapted to work with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard use. As part of this effort, we have also:

  • Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site

  • Set the content order of the site’s pages

  • Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages

  • Added alternative text to images

  • Implemented colour combinations that meet the required colour contrast

  • Reduced the use of motion on the site

  • Ensured all videos, audio, and files on the site are accessible

Physical accessibility at Marimar Rooms

We want all guests to be able to enjoy a stay with us. Please be aware of the following regarding the property itself:

  • Marimar Rooms is located in a historic building in central Whitby.

  • Local parking is approximately 10 minutes from our location.

  • Marimar Rooms is on the fourth floor, and there is no elevator; only stairs.

  • We are happy to discuss your individual requirements before booking — please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs

Known limitations

We are a small, independent business, and while we strive to meet accessibility best practices, there may be areas of our website that could be improved. We welcome your feedback and will work to address any issues raised as quickly as possible.
